Japan is famous producers of Akoya cultivated pearls but recently china is the biggest competitor of fresh water and Akoya pearls. By the naked eye you can not find any difference between natural and cultivated pearls but, difference can be made by the x-ray technology. Cultivated pearls are used in cosmetics as well as in the pearl jewelry.

Cultivated pearls are normally found in the white color but it can be colored in different colors. Cultivated pearls are available in high quality shines and at very cheap prices. Nowadays pearl necklace is available in the different kinds of pearls these are Akoya pearl, south salt water pearls and in Tahitian pearls. Akoya pearl necklaces are more costlier than other types of pearls but the most expensive pearl available in the market is black pearl and the golden yellow south sea pearl necklaces both in domestic and international market.
