Drug addiction treatment sometimes take time and patience but if does properly can be cured. Drug addiction is characterized by compulsive drug craving and constant quest for it. For many people, drug addiction becomes chronic, and it can relapse even after a long abstinence. As a chronic, recurring illness, addiction may require repeated treatments to increase the intervals between relapses and diminish their intensity. This process should be continued till the total abstinence is achieved.
The basis for effective dual diagnosis program lies in that it can help many people change destructive behaviours, avoid relapse and ultimately from addiction. It requires a multiple episodes of treatment. There are some key principles for any effective drug addiction treatment. As for example different dual diagnosis or treatment should apply for different individual, an individual’s treatment and services plan must be assessed often and modified to meet the person’s changing need, counseling and other behavioral therapies are critical components and often effective for drug addiction treatment. Medication is also important in some cases. Possible drug use during treatment must be monitored continuously. Treatment programmes should provide assessment for HIV or AIDS, hep B and C, tuberculosis, etc. it also should provide counseling to help patients modify or change behaviours.
The other effective treatment namely medication and other behavioral combination often begin with detoxification, which is followed by treatment and relapse prevention. Withdrawal symptoms can be important in the initiation of treatment which sometimes prevent relapse if necessary for maintaining its effects. All these treatment is very useful but above all it depends on the will power of the patients.
